It was July 5 1999. I just returned from Winthrop University where I was to start my freshman year. Mutual friends of ours that was dating invited me to a cookout. When I walked into the house there he was. A very handsome young man with smooth chocolate skin and almond shaped eyes that I had seen in pictures, but pictures did not do him justice. We sat around and ignored each other the entire time between quick glances, actually checking each other out.
Later that evening my friend called and asked would I like to go to the movies with them? So in he scrolled into the theater for free because of his popularity since he was a star football player. So I said “since you got in free you can at least buy the popcorn.” He laughed and proceeded to the concession stand. Now to let him tell the story it wasn’t like this but this is exactly how it happened. While we were in the movies our hands touched slightly over the arm rest. He grabbed my hand and that was it, we were inseparable ever since.
Like most young relationships we had our ups and down but we have pushed our way through them.

....And the two of us shall become one on April 26,2008, at Bethleham Baptist Church in Timmonsville, South Carolina.
